Getting your car repaired after an accident

When you are dealing with the aftermath of having been involved in a car accident in Washington, there can be a lot of different factors to manage including insurance, medical expenses and treatments, car repairs and general legalities. At Dean Standish Perkins & Associates, we have been able to provide support to countless victims of automobile accidents.

One area that will require a bit of attention is your car situation. Depending on the severity of your accident, you could be left without a car entirely. In a less severe accident, you may still have a vehicle, but one that requires extensive repairs before it is drivable again. In either situation, you will need to find transportation while you are without a vehicle which can be inconvenient and frustrating. Working with your insurance company to have the repairs completed in as timely a manner as possible will hopefully lessen the impact your accident has on your day-to-day transportation needs.

According to Carfax, Inc., your car will be considered totaled if the amount of money it will take to repair it is worth more than the value of your vehicle. If this is your situation, your vehicle will be taken to a salvage yard and you will be given a check for the value of your vehicle after any outstanding balances for loans have been paid. It would be beneficial to research the value of vehicles that match the make and model of yours so you can verify that the amount of money you are given is comparable to its worth. If your car is repairable, you will need to work with your insurance company or the insurance company of the other driver, to find an auto body shop that is in-network with your coverage.

When you are aware of the process that will follow when it comes time to repair or replace your damaged vehicle, you can have peace of mind that you are doing everything the right way. For more information, if you have been hurt in a car accident, visit our web page.
